Prebersee is Lungau’s quiet mirror: a dark moor lake at 1,514 m beneath the Preber, ringed by pines and a flat loop trail.
Why go
Cold clean water for a proper alpine reset swim, an easy 45-minute lakeside loop that works with small kids, and huts serving simple food in season.
Good to know
- Best season: late June to early October.
- The water stays cold all year — that is the point.
- Arrive early on sunny weekends; the small car park fills up.
- Want a summit feeling without a big climb? The signed trail to the historic Grazer Hütte (1,897 m) starts here — about 1¾ hours from the lake, or roughly an hour if you park along the road just past it.
